Many people set goals for the new year with high expectations that this will be the year that “all the baby fat will come off”, “I will lose 25 pounds”…etc, etc. The thing is, as a statistical fact that by March most of us have resumed our regular habit and that weight has gone no where. So what is someone to do who really want to stay with their ideals but has lost the motivation?
WAKE UP!! You do have a choice! February is American Heart Month and since you want to be healthy and happy may I suggest my first tip for you: visit your doctor, that’s right see a health care professional and see where your body is at and what needs improving so that you can have strength and vitality throughout your life. It’s hard to get motivated to change when your body is out of shape or in pain, not to mention heart disease is the No. 1 killer of both men and women (according to CDC, in 2010 26% of deaths were due to heart disease .
One of the biggest nightmares facing our nation right now is health care and the lack of insurance for the low-income and disabled persons. The United States government does provide health insurance coverage to people who are age 65 and older; and to those who are permanently- physically disabled or who have a congenital physical disability, these persons are also covered. With that said how many of these people go to the doctor for regular check ups, the fact is less than half. Why, because typically when they are low-income they have no way to pay for co-pays, or medications, and quite a few don’t have transportation to get to a medical facility.
Now that you are on a roll with finding that soul satisfying career , please do not allow yourself to get trapped into the validation weakness; this is where we pretend to be what we think other people want us to be. If we are on our road to true passions what other people think or perceive of us should not matter and this goes for the good and bad opinions for the less you look for other people’s approval the more of it they will give you, crazy I know but try it and see what happens.
Remember the connections you make must include your whole body- soul, mind, and physical body because living in truth involves all of you, for example if you find your mood swings from really “high highs” to really “low lows” then is your whole function and living with purpose? Sure everyone has a bad day here and there but your mood swings should be only slight, not on a major pendulum, if your moods are dramatic then you are not living where your fulfillment brings forth true purpose.
Remember you are worth it, and this is the only life you are here to live so it is up to you if you want to live with a healthy body, pain free or slow down as you get older, and fight infection, disease, and maybe be one of the statics for heart disease. The choice is to you- be kind to yourself, visit your doctor regularly and stay in tip top shape.
